About Cedar
Cedar Cottage sits within the Pembrokeshire National Park overlooking Newport Bay’s long sandy beach. It is set within a secluded garden, well away from roads. A shared paddock leads through a gate to the coastal path and the Cwm, a fabulous swimming spot where the Nevern River joins the sea. Here you can cross over to Newport Sands at low water (as long as you’re prepared to get your feet wet!).
The Preseli Mountains form the backdrop to Cedar Cottage, making it perfectly placed for walks up to Carningli Mountain peak or exploring the beautiful Gwaun Valley beyond.
The village of Newport is fifteen minutes walk from the cottage and has plenty of choices of cafes and pubs. There is a convenience store, a great butcher and a well-stocked health food store selling local cheese and fresh bread. There are also craft shops, gift shops, a post office and a local newsagent. You can also find outdoor clothing, antiques and a gallery selling local artists’ work.
On Monday mornings Newport has a busy farmers’ market with a wide range of stalls selling locally produced food and goods.
Activities are abundant. If you want more than a sandy beach and a sheltered swimming cove-there is an eighteen-hole golf course, horse riding, coasteering and canoeing from plenty of activity centres between Cardigan and St Davids. There is plenty of garden space around the cottage if you bring along your canoes kayaks and boards.
